SBBSecho Version 1 Development History
--------------------------------------
Legend: ! Bug Fix
* New Feature
& Change of Operation
Each line begins with one of the modification types listed in the legend above
and then followed by a single digit (0-9) rating the importance/severity of
the modification (0 being least significant).
***********************************
June 17, 1995 Version 1.00 Released
***********************************
!1 FUZZY_ZONE operation was setting destination zone, but not originating zone
on in-bound netmail (leaving set to zone 1 or default zone).
!5 INTL kludge line (for inter-zone operation) not being interpretted causing
inter-zone NetMail to be assumed from zone 1 unless FUZZY_ZONE operation
was enabled.
!7 LZH compressed messages decoded incorrectly in 32-bit flavors (appeared as
t's and spaces when exported).
!0 Unpack command lines for Archive Types in ECHOCFG could not be changed.
!0 Blank lines in AREAS.BBS read as passthru areas.
!2 When echoing across zones, originating address in packets was incorrect if
system had no AKA in the destination zone.
!3 PATHs and SEEN-BYs are stripped when echoing across zones.
!0 Areafix help message (AREAMGR.HLP) would only be sent when requested if
SBBSecho was run from a NODE directory (or any directory where ..\EXEC was
a valid path).
&1 Unrecognized sub-board internal codes in AREAS.BBS are logged (unless
"P", which is proper syntax for Passthru areas).
*2 Circular path messages and duplicates are totalled for each area and
logged with the area import totals.
*5 Each loggable item can be toggled on/off in ECHOCFG->Log Options.
&3 Additional logging of fatal errors before termination.
!5 Wildcard node status configurations not functioning properly.
!1 Netmail messages with hold status were being routed (FLO Mailers).
&5 Incoming packets must have two null terminators to be imported or they
are ignored.
!3 Fixed NOPEN: ACCESS DENIED error in OS/2 flavor.
&2 The received bit now gets set in .MSG type netmail if the 'D' (do not
delete netmail after import) command line option is used.
&1 Packets are now bundled after tossing is complete rather than during.
&7 File attaches for bundles are now made after all bundles are created
rather than during.
***********************************
July 21, 1995 Version 1.01 Released
***********************************
&0 All nodes added in ECHOCFG are saved to the configuration file (even if
nothing was changed from the default).
&1 On subsequent executions SBBSecho adds any new packets to existing bundles
that have not yet reached the size limit rather than creating new bundles.
&1 SBBSecho checks existing MSGs to see if bundles already have a file
attachment before creating a new one.
!1 File attachments for bundles weren't getting created unless messages were
being imported or exported, as a result file attachments for stray bundles
weren't being created right away.
!2 Invalid/incorrect area manager password attempts were not being sent to
the sysop in v1.01.
*3 %RESCAN is now a valid area manager command.
&3 Echomail is now only scanned from a sub-board if it is listed in the
AREAS.BBS file and it has uplinks. If a node does a remote rescan, only
those areas to which they are connected are scanned.
!7 If a packet containing netmail were imported, the very next message in the
packet after the netmail message would get skipped.
!0 The MAIL database isn't left locked while searching for destination user
name(s), possibly causing open failures on other active nodes on a large
user database.
*1 Added %FROM for doing remote area manager maintenance via a remote location.
*2 A specific user number can be specified for automatic e-mail notification
of failed Areafix requests.
!3 If a packet containing in transit netmail were imported and the destination
user existed on your system, it would get imported to that user rather than
reaching the proper destination address.
&2 EchoMail messages imported are given the FidoNet type network status, even
if the message is missing a proper origin line. This eliminates the problem
of exporting messages that were imported from Fido to begin with, but lacked
a proper origin line. The originating address on the message will be the
packet address (the address is normally obtained from the origin line).
!3 If an area which you were not previously carrying was remotely added via
Area Manager, your hub where requests are forwarded to (if any) was not
getting added to the AREAS.BBS file.
!3 Areafix commands %+ALL, %-ALL, and %COMPRESSION not working properly.
&0 PASSIVE directive was being placed into SBBSECHO.CFG even when not
necessary.
!1 Bundle attachments with the DIRECT flag set weren't getting deleted after
being sent out.
*************************************
August 22, 1995 Version 1.10 Released
*************************************
!5 International kludge line not getting written.
&3 When using the N command line switch (Do NOT Import Netmail) packetized
netmail was not getting converted to .MSG files and could be lost.
*************************************
August 30, 1995 Version 1.11 Released
*************************************
!6 %+ALL remote area manager function not working properly if any 'Additional
Echo Lists' were configured for the requesting node.
!6 %LIST remote area manager function not working properly if any 'Additional
Echo Lists' were configured for the requesting node.
!3 File find routines under OS/2 require close.
&0 In the ECHOCFG program, under 'Additional Echo Lists', would show 'Yes' for
'Forward Requests' if there was no 'Hub Address' specified.
!0 AREAS.BBS lines greater than 255 characters in length would cause wierd
behavior. Lines up to 1024 characters in length are now correctly supported.
!1 SBBSecho would sometimes require being run more than once to pick up all
incoming bundles.
*3 New 'G' command line option allows notify lists to be generated and sent to
uplinks.
!3 FUZZY_ZONE not working.
&9 Compiled and linked with SMBLIB v2.00.
*9 WinNT/Win95 flavor now available.
&5 DOS16 version can now export messages larger than 64k in size.
&2 Improved CRC matching for user names and area tags.
&3 Multiple retries for file removal (required for WinNT/Win95).
!1 Area Manager messages with klude lines occuring AFTER the message body
would be interpreted as being blank.
!3 If areas were removed remotely through area manager, and there were no areas
being added, an exception error would occur.
!0 If the '%-ALL' area manager command were used, areas that were not connected
would be displayed in the response message when they shouldn't be.
!1 When adding or removing areas through area manager, the status of the uplink
was not immediately updated and could cause some confusion if the state of
an area were toggled more than once in one session.

November 13, 1995 Version 1.20 Released
***************************************
&3 Retries up to 60 seconds for deleting files under Win32.
***************************************
December 19, 1995 Version 1.21 Released
***************************************
!5 Secure operation didn't work (passwords and forced AREAS.BBS listing).
&2 If a packet doesn't pass security, a detailed explanation of the cause is
now logged in SBBSECHO.LOG.
